DOMINIC CAZENOVE "Danny"

The short answer to my best and worst moments about Blow Job would be the same : Kiki

But you didn't think this was going to be short did you? So, here is a general report/diary from the eyes of Dom, of the Blow Job job.

July 9th: Ad in Shooting People Casting mailing list - thought it was worth a go; besides 'Taz' is an interesting name for a director.

July 11th: Email from Taz to say "come and audition on Sunday 14th" - Great, there goes my lazy Sunday - I now have to slog all the way thru central London to do an audition, which in all likelihood will lead to an email saying something like "Thanks for coming to the audition, as you can imagine we had many people audition and unfortunately we can't offer you a part".
Not really excited at this point. Excitement Level (EL) 3.

July 12th: Email arrives with script. Things are looking up, script is pretty good! Think to myself 'Hmm, that Nick part is pretty cool, hope I'm not up for Danny, he's only got 3 lines'
Excitement level goes up a couple notches - EL 5.

July 14th: Arrive at audition. Am up for Danny. Smile cordially and look nervous when other girl auditioning does better job than me (no pun intended). Taz seemed nice and friendly, but still walk away not really bothered if I never hear from her again.
EL 4.

July 16th: Memorable moment No.1: Email telling me I've got the part. Briefly say to myself 'Well, of course she wants me.' then resort to "Why does she want me?', then onto 'Do I want her?'. Stopped thinking. Emailed back saying I'd be 'delighted' to take the part.
Did consider turning job down due to size of part (in the script, not my part.), but something about that Taz made me want to do it.
EL 6.

July 20th: Read-through day. Met the rest of the cast bar Angela.
Memorable moment No.2: Met Ross, found out that the part of Nick was written for him... if I'd known beforehand, I may not have turned up for the audition - but who knows. He also bested me in the embarrassing story-telling by pulling out the 'cum all over my shirt' card.
Memorable moment No.3: Met Kiki, mildly energetic German girl. Later to find out that this was an understatement of sorts.
After the read-through I had a drink with Vanessa, Taz and Steve. After chatting with Taz over a couple of pints, I realised that we had incredibly similar tastes in films and TV - realised this job was going to be fun. The script was funny, the cast were nice and there something about that Kiki girl who was going to play my girlfriend Fiona.... Go home grateful that I couldn't beat Ross's story.
EL 7.

Pre-shoot drink up to let everyone really get to know each other
The drinks at Onanon proved to be very comical and definitely:
Memorable moment No.4: The sock saga - Episode 1. Kiki is second to arrive and proceeds to talk for 7-8 minutes without stopping, except to sip her wine occasionally. She made her soon to become famous RRRRRR sound numerous times and displayed a natural ability to appear in a shampoo advert with her blond locks gymnastics. I was frequently whipped (accidentally I was informed, firmly) by this manoeuvre. At the end of this verbal tirade she instructed me that my navy blue socks were a complete fashion faux pas. I made the silly mistake of trying to justify myself, and so was rewarded with another tirade of observational abuse.
Taz splits us up and makes us talk to the other people that have arrived who are looking on amazed as Kiki and I were verbally duelling. Go home grateful that I got out with all clothes intact.
EL Somewhere between 4 and 8...

August 5th: Well this is weird. I remember virtually nothing about the bar rehearsal, apart from an incident involving someone or something called Caroline...? Maybe this is one of those psychological blackouts - maybe something so awful happened to me that I just blocked it out. Maybe I was so horrifically mentally and physically scarred that my conscious mind just can't cope with the memory of the event. Perhaps memorable moment number No.5 is lost forever in the hidden depths of my mind.
But then again, I can always just look at my chest, inspect the three parallel scars and then the memory of Kiki's terrifying claws attacking me on the tube station just seems to flood right back in the forefront of my brain. The harmless event that triggered this rabid attack?? - I grabbed her jacket and made a half hearted attempt to pretend to throw her onto the tracks.
Go home grateful that I got out alive.
EL who the **** knows?

August 10th: The bar shoot day was fun. I enjoyed it. It seemed to go quite well and was definitely memorable - if not least because David (Nigel) managed to gob his drink over my leg in every f***ing take. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HIT STEVE (Dave). Hmmmppphh.
Memorable moment No.6: Kiki apologises. But then goes on to rant about how her boyfriend has MUCH tougher skin than me and that her 'gentle scratching' merely results in gentle excitement. I never said it didn't EXCITE me, just that it wasn't exactly gentle.
EL: RRRRRRRRRRR

August 12th: Hearing that Taz was concerned about lack of crew for shooting the lounge scene (dildo day), I volunteered to help out crewing, was told "Nah, we're fine". What Taz really meant was "No way am I letting you and Kiki in the same room together when she has lots of lines and action to concentrate on". No faith! Never-the-less, when their obvious glut of crew caused a few problems I was called in for the afternoon - was there any Dom/Kiki related issues. Of course not. We are both professionals and wouldn't cause any problems. Besides Taz had 'words' with us beforehand!!
That day was hot. Very hot. And not due to the talcum powdered dildo placed provocatively on the table. More to do with the fact that the outside temperature was in the high 20's and the lights were causing the inside temperature to be considerably higher than that.
Well, the girls (including Ross), did well and wrapping came as a huge relief to all of us. The champagne helped too.

Wrap Drinks: Turn up to wrap drinks at Onanon (where else!) wearing my new cowboy hat. I decide I should include it in my spotlight photo next year. Copious amounts of wine later, and finally getting to have a chat with Micaela (prod asst who I never managed to speak to properly on the bar shoot day), I left the bar for my last memorable moment of the Blow Job job:
Memorable moment 7: while waiting for a night bus home in Piccadilly Circus - 2 nubile 18 year old girls, that had just got their A-Level results, spotted a drunk, yet handsome young guy in a cowboy hat, chatted me up and 'persuaded' me to go into a club to meet their friends. It's amazing how little persuasion is needed to make a young man succumb in a situation like that.

Aftermath: There can't, of course, be an end to this diary - as I have made some very cool friends and had a wicked time! May there be many more!

I have also been slaughtered at table football by Kiki and Taz. I have had the piss taken out of my pronunciation of the word 'serious'. And there was a banana inspired sexual conflict improv with Vanessa at the read-through.

I only hope the next time I work with Taz and co., it will be half as good!! Thanks Taz - it was a riot!!!

Dom
Taz note: Dom will be disappointed about all the entries he made regarding the number of emails I sent… (hey, at least I kept you well informed!), however for the sake of readers, these were edited out… as was one of the memorable moments… as the person involved requested it not be included… there's a little intrigue for you… and it wasn't Kiki!
